Hello There, Declare!

I’m so excited to be attending the Declare Conference in a couple weeks!  Since this will be my first year to attend, I thought I would join the fun and participate in the attendee link-up.

Below are my answers to the questions posed to all of the attendees.  Whether or not you will be attending this year, I look forward to getting to know all of you lovely writers and readers.  Please leave me a comment and say hello!

Declare Attendee Q&A

When did you feel called to be a digital evangelist, what’s your main medium, and how long have you been doing it?

I felt a strong urge in my spirit that said “write” shortly after my son was born.  I officially started my blog in 2014, but did not write my first post until 2015 due to the Paralysis of Perfectionism.

What is your life scripture?

There are several scriptures come to mind, but I think 1 John 4:16 sums it up nicely:

“God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”

In fact, can I just say that 1 John is a highly underrated book of the bible?  If I ever need a reminder of how Jesus wanted us to live our lives, I can count on those 5 short chapters to give me a good kick in the pants.

What are your passions?

I am passionate human behavior and understanding the perspectives of others.  For me, this means reading – A LOT.

I believe reading novels, biographies, and memoirs builds empathy and puts us in a better position to help others.  I’ve also been known to devour self-help and other non-fiction, too.  Any other book nerds out there?  I would love to be your friend on goodreads!

I’m also passionate about creativity.  I strongly believe that every person is called to be creative in some way, and that creativity is a crucial part of living a full, balanced life.  So, naturally, I have read a lot on that subject as well 🙂

What is your favorite food?

I have always had an incredible weakness for chips – the crazier the flavor, the better.  I recently discovered these Cassava Chips at Aldi and I had to hold myself back from buying an entire case. So good!

Where is your happy place and what’s it like?

My happy place is anywhere warm, quiet, and peaceful.  This can be on a beach in Hawaii, in a hot yoga studio, or in my bed with the heating blanket on.

Are you working on any exciting projects that you can share about?

My biggest project right now is me!  I have dubbed 2017 as The Year of Habit, one of the most important habits I am currently working on is the habit of writing consistently.

I have plenty I want to share, but every draft is a struggle.  I’m really banking on the fact that Ira Glass was right, and that THE GAP is a real thing.

How can we pray for you as you prepare for this year’s conference?

I would love it if you would pray that I come away from this year’s conference with a clear understanding of my purpose for writing and the encouragement to continue to hit publish.

See you at Declare!
